Chapter III
Experience the Collegium
A guiding principle of the Collegium is trust through knowledge. Accordingly, we offer two serious public engagement points, Doctoral Colloquia and Office Hours, through which doctoral candidates may experience the Collegium’s mentorship approach firsthand.
Public Engagement
Two Modes of Engagement
The Collegium offers two public points of entry through which doctoral candidates may encounter its scholarly method, mentoring posture, and intellectual community.
Doctoral Colloquia
Scholarly Lecture | Discussion | Working Session
The Collegium hosts twice-monthly colloquia devoted to a specific question or problem in doctoral research. Each session includes a scholarly lecture, guided discussion, and working session in which participants may ask questions, share drafts, and receive substantive feedback.
Office Hours
Conceptual and Methodological Clarity | Actionable Feedback
For doctoral candidates considering membership, Office Hours provide a one-on-one opportunity to have current dissertation work reviewed and to discuss whether the Collegium aligns with the support sought. Following the session, prospective members receive a detailed feedback memorandum, written in the style of peer review, together with a membership prospectus.
If you have questions about the Dissertation Collegium, we welcome your correspondence at collegium@institutefordoctoralformation.org.
